Originally penned On December 28, 2018 – Now with the advent of higher social media demands, it is more true then ever as people seek likes and follows.
We are free of what prevents us to realize our destination..Free from all old stories we’ve been told..
There is this age old human nature that results in humans working off of two forces – intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. If one is not familiar with these concepts, it is basically the same as internal versus external validation, and where does one find self worth.
Does one find worth within themselves, or only within the approval of others, and is often paired with authenticity. If you can only find worth in others, it is very hard to be authentic..
We as a society crave and respect those that stood true to their core values – such as Prince, Elton John, Martin Luther King – and many others that we can list off.. Many pay homage to the Kardashians yet troll on them.. why the difference – well the Kardashians are not authentic.. they are seeking external validation.. Prince sought first internal validation..
However within the not so famous ranks, there are many others that fit those same qualities as Elton John, Prince, Freddie M…. I can name a quick handful that those that know me know who I’m thinking of..
If we take a look at those 3 I mentioned – we respect them as they “owned themselves” they didn’t seek approval of others, yes at certain times in their lives they sold their souls to gain a facet of what they thought at the time would help achieve the greater goal they desired. Prince is famous for shaving the word slave into his beard when he was paying the price of his soul, so in his own way was authentic as he paid the price.
We as humans can each take a lesson in those people we admire for who they were, in their decision to respect themselves first regardless of the price, in their staunch stance on self respect within the lessons learned – where they sought no validation from anyone but themselves.
For those that are purely intrinsically motivated, those that are truly authentic to where their soul must lead them, it is those that will lead the path to the other side, and it is they that will achieve happiness.
For living a life seeking the approval of others, to seek validation, to seek acceptance from the mass.. that is an empty husk of life – for in that we find only the flailing of emotions in and amongst of our own self worth.
And the point of life is to find joy, to find happiness, to find peace – no matter what brings forth that peace.. whether it is deep within mother nature, where you find more joy in the single moment of capturing a tadpole swimming or if it is more grand in creating a song that impacts other souls.. or if it nothing more then living a humble life with no more purpose then to help others evolve.
Quiet introspection can help bring a sense of purpose, where one can remove the chaos and find that peace..
But the most important aspect is to understand ones motivation, and is that motivation truly authentic? Or is it with a goal – for authenticity has no goal.. it simply is..
Own yourself and you will have no regrets.. for within it one finds only humbleness and authenticity and in the end true health..
