Researching our family histories can take many resources, and not all researchers have the resources to order essential records.
So to help with that, I’d like to introduce the Matlock and Zilpha Roberts Genealogy Military Pension File Grant Program.
To qualify:
The ancestor must have been in DeKalb County, Tennessee by 1880; and
They must have lived in DeKalb for at least five years; and
Each person can only submit one request per year; and
Served in the Civil War (Union Side), Revolutionary War, Black Hawk War etc
I will prioritize requests based on my budget, when I receive the request, and how helpful their file will be to sorting out proof on lines. I will order at least one file every three months; all file requests will eventually be ordered.
To apply, have questions, or need more info, please email:
kris.family.research@gmail.com
If applying, please include the following:
· Your name, email address, phone number
· All known names of: the veteran, his widow, and children’s names(to the best of your knowledge)
· Known or estimated birthdate of the Veteran, and if possible parents or sibling names
· Try to Include a screenshot of the pension file or a link of where you found it, or list the numbers as they appear for the application and certificate
Records will be ordered through Gopher Records, as they have a fantastic track record of quick, accurate, and exceptional skill in finding difficult records.
Unfortunately, Confederate Civil War files require a different lookup process and can’t be included.
